Organization
In the middle of each of the sides of the playing area make small squares of 2 meters using the markers. Two small squares made with blue markers and another two made with red markers (See picture).
Inside the square divide the team into two groups of 4 players (In the picture 4 players wear red vest and another 4 white ones).
Description
- The exercise starts when the coach throws the ball inside the area
- The team that gets the ball starts playing a ball possession, at a high pace, against the rival team, in other words they develop a 4 against 4 situation
- Each team defends the small squares corresponding to the color of their vests
- The main goal of the exercise for both teams is to get the ball inside one of the squares right after beating the player and overcoming him (See picture)
Rules
- The team that scores starts the game again possessing the ball
- If the ball gets out of the playing area, the coach throws another one in in order to keep playing
- The winner will be the team that scores the most points out of the two series
Variations
- Add a jolly in order to create situations of numerical superiority in favor of the team that has the ball
- Add a bonus element: The coach identifies a player that if within a certain time gets to score then their team scores 3 points
- Change the playing area based on the age and on players' skills
Coaching Points
- Encourage players to seek for more and different varieties of feints and tricks
- Explain to players how important it is to play a ball possession at a high pace and encourage them to be constantly moving in order to liberate passing lanes
